Common futures myths in Pakistani crypto groups and what actually happens
Crypto groups in Pakistan often share confident claims about futures on Binance, OKX, Bybit and Bitget. Five common myths about leverage, liquidation and signals, and what really happens on the screen.
Multiple exchanges | Pakistan | PKR | fees, access and account safety
Futures trading spreads quickly through Telegram and WhatsApp groups, often with screenshots of large gains and confident advice. Some of that advice is harmless, but some of it is plainly wrong and leads to fast losses. Below are five claims that come up again and again, each followed by what actually happens on the futures screen of any major exchange. Reading them before your next trade may save a good part of your account.
Myth one: high leverage is fine with a small amount
The claim is that using very high leverage on a small margin is safe because you can only lose that small margin. In practice, high leverage puts the liquidation price very close to your entry, so normal price noise can close the position within minutes. You lose the margin quickly and often repeatedly. Risk depends on position size and stop distance, not only on how much margin you post.
Myth two: liquidation only happens in crashes
Many beginners think liquidation requires a dramatic market collapse. In reality, on a highly leveraged position a move of a few percent, or less, can be enough. The order form shows an estimated liquidation price before you confirm; compare it with recent daily price ranges. If an ordinary day's movement could reach it, the position is too large for the leverage.
Myth three: signals remove the risk
Paid signal groups often claim high accuracy. Even if a signal is good, your entry price, timing, size and stop will differ from the screenshot. Groups rarely show their losing calls in the same detail. Following signals with high leverage combines someone else's opinion with your own liquidation risk. If a group asks for your login or API key with withdrawal permission, leave immediately.
Myths four and five: funding and fees do not matter
Funding payments on perpetual contracts are exchanged at regular intervals and calculated on the full position size, so on leveraged positions held for days they add up. Trading fees are also charged on full position size at entry and exit. Together they can turn a small winning trade into a loss. Check the funding rate on the contract screen and your fee tier on the exchange's fee page before trading.

Scenario checkpoint
- Size positions from your stop distance and the loss you accept, not from margin alone.
- Compare the estimated liquidation price with ordinary daily price ranges.
- Treat signal screenshots with caution and never share logins or withdrawal-enabled API keys.
- Include funding and fees, calculated on full position size, in every trade plan.
